Welcome to Chorus!
Mission:
It is the mission of the Newburyport Public School Performing Arts Department to provide every student the opportunity to engage in the appreciation, creation and analysis of multiple performing arts modalities. We will provide a 21st century education through embedding technology in each performing arts course, while focusing on the connection with the physical body, voice or instrument. Through culturally sensitive instructional practices, students will experience the performing arts as relevant to their multiple intelligences. Whether students pursue the performing arts at a post-secondary or professional level or engage in it socially, we aim to instill a lifelong advocacy for the impact and power of creativity.
Grading:
50% Studentship (Do-Now, Class Participation)
25% Concert Attendance
25% Singing Test (Group or Individual)
Extra Credit: Attend an NHS concert or theatre production and turn in program
Studentship: You will be graded on class participation, effort, and binder work. At the end of each class, you will be given the opportunity to give yourself a grade out of 10. You will be graded on doing your best as a student, not on how well you sing.
Concerts: Attendance is mandatory. If you are unable to attend, please let me know so that you can have a make-up assignment. Unexcused absence will result in a lower grade.
